Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that painting cabinets or refacing your kitchen cabinets can be confusing to you.

Here we have tried our best to answer common questions as much as much we can. If you have any more questions, please feel free to call us at (647) 248 0234.

Can we paint laminate kitchen cabinets?2022-03-13T05:56:00+00:00

Another common question about painting kitchen cabinets is if it is ideal to paint the parts with laminates, such as end panels. Yes, you can paint these parts without any adverse effects. The only point is that painting on laminates requires priming, the same as the doors and drawer faces. We use the best primer to apply on laminates to avoid problems with these parts.

Will Painting My Kitchen Cabinets Change How I Use My Home?2022-03-13T05:54:46+00:00

Painting kitchen cabinets doesn’t impact other home areas since significant parts of the cabinet, such as the doors and drawers, won’t be painted in the kitchen. This means you can continue using your home just as you have been using it.

Does The Process Stop Me From Using My Kitchen?2022-03-13T05:53:01+00:00

Whether you can keep using your kitchen or not during the procedure depends on the method adopted by your painter. If a painter paints the cabinets on-site, your kitchen won’t be available for use during the period, which can be up to 3 days. This is necessary as they will cover everything in your kitchen, keeping it away from the paint and dust.
However, we have our particular method of painting, which allows homeowners to use their kitchens. While this doesn’t mean you can use your kitchen anytime you want, you can use it intermittently during the process, which is when we are not working on the cabinet.

How long does it take to reface the cabinet with new doors?2022-03-12T22:21:25+00:00

After you select the design for the new doors and the measurement done properly, it takes about 10 business days to have the doors built. The next step is to painting them. So in general you should consider between 14 to 18 business days before the new doors are installed.

How Long Does Cabinets Painting Take?2022-03-12T22:18:09+00:00

How long it takes to paint kitchen cabinets depends on the painter who determines how well the job is done. However, as a guide, a proper kitchen cabinets painting should take about a week. Also worth mentioning is that your painter can take the doors and drawers to his workshop or carry out the whole job at your place.
Regardless, it takes us between 8-10 days to paint an average kitchen cabinet.

Will My Landlord Support Painting My Cabinet?2022-03-12T22:16:56+00:00

Before you embark on painting your cabinet, you want to seek your landlord’s approval. The doubt is if he will support painting your cabinet. Whether your landlord lets you paint your cupboards or not depends on your cabinets’ condition. If your cabinets are old and damaged, your landlord should let you paint them. If otherwise, you might need to devise another means to convince him.

How To I Remove Grain On My Oak Cabinets?2022-03-12T22:15:11+00:00

You have two options to remove grain on your cabinets: investing in fillers or replacing the door. While applying fillers might sound like a cost-effective option, it is as expensive as replacing the doors. Hence, painting your cabinets remains the best option to get rid of the grain. While cabinet painting is trendy, it is also cost-effective.

Is Clear Coating Required?2022-03-12T22:14:04+00:00

You might want to ask if a clear coating is required to protect the paint. You don’t need to coat the painting if done the right way.
Many homeowners have complained about their cabinets changing to yellow or chipped after painting. Improper painting is usually why kitchen cabinets give some yellow spots after painting. Also, it happens when the painter uses old-version of cabinet paints. Properly painting your cabinets with high quality and special paint will give them a hardened surface that retains the original colour for a long time.
Hence, hiring an experienced painter to paint your kitchen cabinets is always wise to avoid repainting later.

Is Cabinet Painting Durable?2022-03-12T22:12:59+00:00

One common question asked about painting kitchen cabinets is if the paint will chip or peel off shortly after painting. This depends on your painter’s expertise. A well-painted cabinet is durable, and it can last a lifetime, meaning you might never think of repainting any time soon.
However, if the painting process is not correctly done, the paint can peel off with time, requiring repainting. This usually occurs when a beginner painter with no experience painting kitchen cabinets is entrusted with a painting job. Recently, many homeowners complained about their painted cabinets peeling off. When we talked to them, we realized that mostly the companies that have painted the cabinets for them don’t have a proper workshop to do the job. So instead, they spray-painted the doors in their garage or, in some cases, they sub-contracted spraying the doors to another shop to be able to lower their cost.
While painting in a garage is ok for a DIYer or a small and unimportant project, it can completely destroy your finishing. The temperature fluctuation, dust and many other factors will affect the final result.
Also, with all due respect, we have seen many shops that accept spraying the doors cut corners, as they are not dealing with the final client directly.
Our kitchen cabinet painting service offers a five-year “no peel” warranty.
We take care of your project with our professional employees and our well-equipped and organized facility.

Will I Miss My Stained Wood Cabinet?2022-03-12T22:09:49+00:00

Painting your kitchen cabinets is never a mistake. Though you are getting rid of the natural look that your wood gives, you will never regret painting your cabinets. While you should paint your cabinets with your choice of colour, you can always change the colour later.

Refinishing or Refacing: Which is Ideal?2022-03-12T22:06:59+00:00

Though both terms might sound to mean the same, they are different. While refinishing means restoring the cabinet’s original look, refacing takes it further by replacing its doors and drawers, but it doesn’t include changing the cupboard’s boxes.
Deciding which one is best for your kitchen cabinets depends on your cabinets’ condition. Refinishing is usually a good option if your cabinets are in good condition but only lack the look you admire.
On the other hand, you want to consider refacing if your cabinets are old-style or broken doors and drawer fronts. Investing in refacing will help replace those parts and revive your cabinets.
It is worth mentioning that kitchen refinishing is more cost-effective than refacing in many cases. Hence, you also want to consider your budget before settling for an option.

I am good at painting and I want to save some money. What are my options?2022-03-12T22:01:32+00:00

Well, so if you are confident that you can take care of the On-site painting of the project, we can offer you a lower price to spray paint the doors in our shop.

We also will provide enough of the paint and we will provide you with the list of the other materials and tools you will need to start.

If you feel that you can take care of uninstalling and reinstalling the doors and drawers, then you only need to drop the cabinet doors in our shop and pick them up. These will save you a good amount of money, however, our warranty will not cover the areas that are not painted by our painters.

I heard MDF doors are low quality, is it correct?2022-03-12T21:56:21+00:00

Yes and No. Like many other products, there are different qualities available in the market. That is very important for you when it comes to replacing your wood doors with MDF doors. If the new doors are built with High Density and High-quality MDF professionally prepared for Cabinets Doors, you will be able to use them at least for the next 10 years.

Remeber that the general use MDF or the ones you find at HomeDepot or Lowes are not specifically built for cabinets doors.

I want to change the design of my doors, what is a reasonable option for me?2022-03-12T21:52:05+00:00

The most cost-effective way to have your cabinets refaced is to have MDF doors built, painted and installed.

Testimonials

Gini M, in Toronto

“Arsh Art did a great job refinishing my 92 year old mother’s kitchen cupboards. Looks as if she had a new kitchen installed. Communication was great and they were always on time. The installer took his time and was very detailed. Highly recommend Sara & this company.”

Maria Di-Paolla

“Finished product was very impressive. Substantial work went into the preparation which included sanding and adding 3 coats of primer in addition to two coats of paint. We elected to spray paint the frames and fixed panels which added more preparation to tape and isolate the area. Sara and her team were a pleasure to work with and we highly recommend them.”

Dave B. in Woodbridge
